TLO Peninsula (San Diego, CA)
Our community brings together local parents, educators and those who care about healthy and safe technology use by our children. Through this community, we can support each other by sharing information, resources and our best tips to help our kids manage technology instead of technology managing them. Together we can effectuate positive change around technology use by children.
A Message from your champion
Hello, neighbors! Thank you so much for your interest in TLO Peninsula, the first group on the West Coast. I am so excited to bring this important resource to our local families.
Today's challenges and questions surrounding kids' use of technology are pervasive and unprecedented. We are indeed pioneers, as ever-evolving research and recommendations come at us from all sides. I founded this group as a way for parents to encourage and support one another with our concerns, confusion, worries, and even guilt. Technology is a given in the lives of our i-Gen children, and TLO Peninsula is here to help! We've got your back when it comes to those tricky decisions and thorny conversations.
The goal of TLO Peninsula is to unite our community around healthy approaches to the digital and virtual worlds in which our kids live, learn, and play. We have three levels of participation; please join us at whatever level fits your family's choices. We hope to gather regularly to share ideas, discuss the latest research, and bring our stories of success (and error!). If you'd like to host a future group meeting, please let me know. If you're on Facebook, please join our group here.
TLO Peninsula is here to serve YOU -- it’s all about coming together to set healthy boundaries, creating a village of support with real-life friends and neighbors. Thank you again for joining us. You are doing a wonderful thing for your child with your involvement in and loving concern about their digital life. Welcome!

Public Promise Members by Child’s Year of High School Graduation: Parents listed as Promise Members have taken a public promise to delay giving their child a smartphone until at least 8th grade as smartphones easily provide access to the Internet, social media and gaming. Our public promise helps to reduce the social pressure to have a smartphone by making smartphones the exception, not the rule.
Public Supporters: Healthy and safe technology use is about more than just smartphones in middle school. That’s why we support all parents. Members listed as “Supporters” publicly support and join our community even though they are unable or unwilling to make the promise at this time (perhaps your child has “aged out” or you are a grandparent).
Private Supporter: You can privately join our community even if you are unable or unwilling to make the promise and do not want to be listed privately as a supporter.
