Secretary's Supplemental Priority and Definitions on Advancing Artificial Intelligence in Education

The federal government is encouraging schools—through newly proposed grants—to introduce AI technology to children at increasingly younger ages. While we believe innovation in education can be valuable, the widespread use of AI tools with our kids must come with thoughtful guardrails and proven safety measures.

Over the past decade, we’ve seen too many schools rush to adopt new technology without clear evidence that it truly benefits children’s learning or well-being. We cannot make the same mistake again with AI. Our children deserve education that puts their health, development, and safety first.
