Success Stories

  • When few were talking about the impact of screens on children’s well-being, Turning Life On was already leading the way—offering the two things parents and educators need most: science-based information and a like-minded community. They understand that lasting change comes not just from individual choices, but from the power of collective, community-based action to shift cultural norms. At Polestar Parenting, our connection with Turning Life On goes back to their roots as Concord Promise. We’ve shared ideas, resources, and a common commitment to helping families raise strong, grounded kids in a digital world. We continue to be inspired by their leadership and are proud to share their vision, a world where digital technology serves human development—without shaping or manipulating it.

  • It's less about turning screens off. TLO is about turning on relationships, curiosity, senses, support, and activism. It's about letting tech take a back seat to life and raising children in the real world.

  • Thank you so much for sharing your expertise, practical strategies, and thoughtful guidance at last night’s Tech Talk. Your insights made the event a real success, and we’re incredibly grateful for your time and support.

  • Adrienne has had two sessions with our school’s parent community and, if we are fortunate, she will come back again! Her presentations are not only informative with the latest science and research, but include strategies for families to negotiate complex social situations. Adrienne is very fun, warm, and approachable which fosters easy interactions and opportunities to brainstorm solutions. As a mother of four, she is very empathetic to the challenges of parenting in this age of ever changing technology and social networking.

  • You were a rock star today. Thank you so much for coming and having such great conversations with our community members. TLO is an awesome initiative and all in attendance felt very reinforced and informed with what you shared.

  • Thank you so much for the Family Media Plan talk tonight! That was so great! I’ve been wanting to update our plan and mission for a while now, and your talk and notes gave me the energy and impetus to get it done! Best to you in all your efforts to spread the good word about keeping tech in check, and for supporting us parents with loving, caring, non-judgemental (!), help and insights!

  • Thank you for hosting the event last night. I loved the analogy of teaching kids to drive and I appreciate that you gave examples of your own choices. The talk was very empowering and reminded us that we are the ones making decisions for our children’s well being. When you mentioned the question about describing your future kids to someone, it also made me think, what will my kids remember about their childhood? They will remember the family game nights and laughter during car rides - not TV shows and video games. These are difficult times and it would be so easy to let tech creep back into our lives- but in many ways these days are also allowing us to make big changes in how we spend our days together as a family.
