About the speaker
Dr. Jared Cooney Horvath, PhD, MEd, is a cognitive neuroscientist, educator, and author who specializes in human learning and brain development. He has taught at Harvard University and Harvard Medical School, holds his PhD from the University of Melbourne — where he remains an honorary researcher, alongside St. Vincent's Hospital Melbourne — and has worked with more than 1,000 schools around the world.
His most recent book, The Digital Delusion: How Classroom Technology Harms Our Kids' Learning — and How to Help Them Thrive Again, draws on decades of neuroscience and education research. In January 2026, he testified before the U.S. Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation on how screens affect children's cognitive development. His work has appeared in The New York Times, WIRED, BBC, The Economist, and PBS's NOVA.
